Special (mail-in) ballot voting
If you are unable to vote at an Advance Vote opportunity or on Election Day, you can request a special (mail-in) ballot package.
Important Dates
First day to request a mail-in ballot package: Aug. 27, 2025.
Mail-in ballots sent out: Starting Sept. 29, 2025.
Packages will be sent to voters after ballots have been printed and as packages are ready.
Last day to request a mail-in ballot package to be sent by mail: Oct. 3, 2025.
Any application made after this date will be for local pick-up only.
Mail-in ballot applications request deadline:
Oct. 20, 2025 at 10 a.m.
Deadline to return mail-in ballot packages in order to be counted: Oct. 20, 2025 at 12 p.m. (noon)

A copy of your identification (ID) needs to be included with your completed mail-in ballot. Instructions on how to include the ID copy is in the mail-in ballot package.
You are required to include a physical copy of your identification (ID) with your completed mail-in ballots. A copy could be:
- a printed photo of your ID, or
- a photocopy of your ID

Return the ballot
Mail-in ballots must be received by the Elections Calgary Mail-in Ballot Office by Election Day, Oct. 20 at 12:00 p.m. (noon).
We recommend mailing packages back by Oct. 14 to ensure they are received in time. Return the ballot package:
- by mail (see estimated delivery times below), or
- in person at the Elections Calgary Mail-in Ballot Office.

*For international requests, we advise you to courier your package back as early as possible to ensure it is received by noon on Oct. 20, 2025.
If Canada Post services are disrupted, Elections Calgary will use a courier to send mail-in ballot packages, where possible. Return courier will be at the voter's expense.

Completed packages can be dropped off in person, Mon-Fri from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Elections Calgary Mail-in Ballot Office at the address below:
