Any person who intends to be nominated or has been nominated to run for election as a candidate must give written notice to Elections Calgary.

What is the difference between registered and nominated candidates?
Registered candidate
A person can submit a written notice of intent to be nominated in order to accept contributions or incur campaign expenses.
The notice of intent to be nominated can be submitted either before or with the nomination papers.
Once the notice is accepted, they are listed as a "registered candidate" on ElectionsCalgary.ca.
Nominated candidate
To appear on the ballot, a person must file official nomination papers during the Nomination Period.
Once these papers are accepted, they are listed as a "nominated candidate" on ElectionsCalgary.ca.
